GESE Remote is delivered via a live video session using Zoom. The quality, security and integrity of the exam depend on stable connectivity and appropriate hardware.
This document outlines the minimum and recommended technical requirements for both centres and candidates.
1. Connectivity requirements
- Minimum download speed: 5 Mbps
- Minimum upload speed: 2 Mbps
2. Hardware requirements
- Centres
Desktop computer or laptop
- Candidates
Desktop computer with external webcam
Fully charged or plugged in laptop with built-in camera
Fully charged tablet or mobile phone with functional front facing camera and device status set to "Do not disturbed"
3. Software requirements
Supported operating systems
- Desktop/laptop
Windows 10 or later
macOS 11 or later
- Tablets and mobile devices
iOS / iPadOS: iOS 15 or later
Android: Android 10 or later
Devices must support and run the latest compatible version of Zoom.
4. Zoom configuration
- Centres
Microphone must be active and functioning
Video must be enabled for the Security Checks
- Candidates
Microphone must be active and functioning
Video must remain enabled throughout the test
No virtual backgrounds
5. Additional requirements for candidates using tablets and mobile devices
- Device must remain stationary throughout the test
- Camera must remain stable and correctly positioned at all times
- Candidate must not adjust or handle the device unless instructed
