GESE Remote Test Taking Guidelines - Candidates of All Ages

Candidates are prepared for their remotely taken GESE exam according to Trinity College London's guidelines below well in advance of exam day.


Exam space


ID

Candidate needs a valid photo ID (as per Trinity's ID guidelines)

Set-up

Well-lit room with no light source directly behind the candidate as this will make it difficult for the centre staff and the examiner to see the candidate clearly

Quiet room with a door that can close and with as little background noise as possible (no TV or music on)

Sit at a tidy desk or table with no papers on it - except the topic notes

No electronic devices other than the exam-taking device within 

reach

A reliable internet connection; candidate should ensure that other household members limit their internet usage for the duration of the exam (note: in cases where technical issues such as connectivity persist for more than two minutes, the exam will need to be rescheduled)

Conduct

Entire face clearly visible and in view of camera throughout the 

exam

Dressed as if in a public setting
No eating during the exam

Cendidates do not communicate or willingly receive communication from 

anyone else during the exam

PrivacyNo one else is permitted in the room whilst the candidate takes the exam

Candidates should not have anything private on display they do not wish for the centre staff or examiner to see during the security checks or exam 

(e.g. personal items or photographs)

Safeguarding

The door to the room where the exam is taken must be closed 

for the duration of the exam

Please ensure that someone else in the house will be available 

to supervise (very) young children



Exam equipment


Devices

A fully charged or plugged in PC with portable 360-degree view camera, laptops, tablets and mobiles


Note: If using a mobile/tablet, set incoming call and messenger settings to "do not disturb"

Headset
Please note it is not permissible to use a headset



Centre staff and candidates are not permitted to record the exam or take screenshots during the exam.
