Post Result Services & Complaints

We recognise that receiving an unexpected or disappointing result can be difficult. Trinity College London is committed to transparency and fairness in all assessment decisions and offers a structured process to support candidates who wish to query a result or raise a complaint.

Enquiries About Results

If you feel dissatisfied after receiving your result, Trinity provides a formal two-stage process:

  • Stage 1: Clerical Check, Results Review, or Re-mark

  • Stage 2: Appeal (if dissatisfied with the outcome of Stage 1)

You must submit your formal enquiry within 12 weeks of receiving your result. For full details, visit the Enquiries About Results page.

To begin, complete the Enquiries About Results form and read the Terms and Conditions.

You may request one of the following:

Clerical Check (available for all exams)

We check that marks have been entered correctly into our system and match the result issued.

  • Fee: Varies by qualification (see fee schedule)

  • Timescale: 45 working days

  • Outcome: If an error is found, it will be corrected and the fee refunded.

Results Review (for performance-based exams, up to 5 candidates)

A reviewing examiner will independently assess the performance and examine all available documentation, including the original examiner’s feedback and exam report. A clerical check is also included.

  • Fee: (see fee schedule)

  • Timescale: 45 working days

  • Outcome: Marks may be adjusted up or down, or remain the same. If the grade improves, a new certificate is issued and the fee is refunded.

Re-mark (for written exams, up to 5 candidates)

Written scripts, portfolios or submitted materials will be re-marked by a second examiner. A clerical check is included.

  • Fee: (see fee schedule)

  • Timescale: 45 working days

  • Outcome: As with reviews, marks may go up, down, or remain unchanged. If the grade improves, a new certificate will be issued and the fee refunded. Please note: Trinity does not provide feedback on individual written responses.

For group enquiries (more than five candidates from a single session), please contact:

Appeals

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a results review or re-mark, you may appeal within 14 days of receiving the outcome. Please visit the Appeals page for full guidance.

To begin the appeal, email resultsreview@trinitycollege.com with your candidate number, appeal reasons, and any relevant documents. Appeals are reviewed by an independent external expert, not employed by Trinity.

  • Fee: 100% of the qualification fee (maximum £134), or £536 for multi-qualification appeals (see policy)

  • Timescale: 30 working days

  • Outcome: Marks cannot be changed at this stage, but if your appeal is upheld due to procedural error or unfairness, both the appeal and review/re-mark fees will be refunded.

Reporting Suspected Malpractice

Suspected misconduct involving a candidate, centre, or Trinity representative must be handled through our Malpractice and Maladministration Policy. This process is separate from results reviews or complaints.

Complaints

If your concern relates to customer service, exam arrangements or Trinity’s administration rather than your result, you can submit a complaint via our Customer Feedback & Complaints page.

We aim to resolve complaints informally where possible. Contact us at:
complaints@trinitycollege.com

Formal complaints should be submitted within 8 weeks of the issue arising. You can expect a response within 30 working days

For unresolved cases, you may escalate via:

We Welcome Your Feedback

Your experience of Trinity is important to us. We invite feedback from exam centres, teachers, exam takers and, in the case of younger candidates, their parents—so that we can continue to provide the best possible service.

We review all feedback and, where necessary and appropriate, share it with the team responsible for overseeing and supporting exams in your area.
