The below sets out behaviours that are not permitted during a proctored test, as well as behaviours that may be flagged by the proctoring system.
Centres are responsible for ensuring that candidates are briefed in advance, that the exam room setup supports compliance with these rules and that any incidents are managed in line with agreed escalation and safeguarding procedures.
Non-permitted actions:
- Another person entering the room (unless approved)
- Candidate leaving camera view without approval
- Switching candidates or impersonation
- Having notes other than the topic notes, books, phones, smart devices etc. in the exam room
- Candidate speaking to another person/receiving verbal prompts or answers
- Opening other browsers or tabs
- Using screen sharing software
- Switching off camera or microphone
- Candidate looking away from your computer screen for an extended period
- Candidates covering their mouth (e.g. with a hand, tissue or scarf)
Typical behaviours that will be flagged:
- Candidate's face not visible for extended periods
- Candidate repeatedly looking away from the screen
- Background noise detected
- Suspicious candidate behaviour (e.g. hand signs, head nods, anything that could be interpreted as getting assistance from another person)
- Candidate repeatedly talking out loud (except for the speaking part of the exam)
NOTE: After the initial system checks, the candidate is required to show the front and back of their topic notes into the camera before entering the keycode and starting the exam.
