Chaperones are required for any candidate under 18 years old.
- Chaperones are members of the candidate’s household aged 18 or above.
- Chaperones must be present for exam security checks for all candidates.
- Chaperones must be present for the entirety of the exam session for all candidates under the aged 12 and under.
- Chaperones can be present during the exam for candidates aged 13 and above if this is requested to and approved by the centre in advance.
Behavioural guidance for chaperones:
- If the chaperone is present during the exam, they MUST NOT communicate with the candidate as it risks the candidate being disqualified.
- Candidates/chaperones MOST NOT record the exam or it will be voided.

Chaperones MUST sit on a chair
behind the candidate.
The chair must be positioned behind
the candidate to the left or right
to the candidate.
Chaperones MUST be visible
on camera throughout the exam.
