When Should I Book My Exam?

Modified on Mon, 7 Jul at 12:46 PM

Knowing when to book your Trinity College London exam is important to ensure availability and adequate preparation time. Below are key considerations to guide your decision:

Booking Periods

  • Trinity face-to-face exams typically have defined booking periods.
  • It is advisable to book your exam as early as possible within the booking window.
  • Early booking maximises your choice of available dates, times, and venues.
  • Booking deadlines and confirmed exam dates are listed on our centre map.

  • Trinity digital exams offer year-round flexibility and can be booked at any time.
  • If your availability during scheduled exam periods is limited, they may be a good option.
  • Please note: once booked, you’ll have 28 days to upload your video, so we recommend booking only when your recording is ready.

Preparation Time

Allow sufficient time for practice and preparation. Consider your current level of readiness, and plan accordingly:

Graded Exams:

  • Once booked, you have 14 days to cancel and receive a refund.
  • After this period, exam fees are non-refundable.
  • While our area representatives do their best to accommodate requests for specific dates and times, availability cannot be guaranteed due to demand and scheduling constraints.
  • Please keep this in mind when booking a face-to-face exam.

Diploma Exams

  • Due to their complexity, plan your booking several months in advance.
  • This is particularly important if you wish to present a programme that contains any pieces not listed in our approved repertoire.
  • You should allow at least 21 days for programme approval before booking, where this is the case.

Peak Periods

  • Certain times of the year see higher exam demand, especially towards the end of academic terms, particularly during the Summer, or before university application deadlines.
  • Face-to-face exam booking during these peak periods may require booking as early as possible to ensure the dates and venues you'd like to use remain available.

SEN and Reasonable Adjustments

If you require SEN accommodations, such as accessibility support or extra time, plan to book as early as possible. This ensures Trinity can appropriately accommodate your needs. Please see our support page for further information.
