What skills does ISE Digital test?
ISE Digital assesses all four language skills: Speaking, listening, reading, and writing. ISE assesses the ability to interact in English in an authentic and meaningful way, through integrated reading and writing exam tasks and integrated speaking and listening tasks.
Where can people take ISE Digital?
ISE Digital can be taken on a computer in a Trinity registered exam centre.
How long is the exam?
The 4-skills exam takes 105 minutes, including a levelling test and time to read instructions.
Can the modules be taken separately?
No, all four modules must be taken at the same time. You may re-sit one module within 90 days to improve your score.
Can a module be retaken?
It is possible to re-take one skill within 90 days to improve a score. Find out more about the format on this webpage.
What is the test scoring format?
The score for each module is reported on a scale from zero to 150. The ISE digital overall score is an average of the
candidates’ four module scores and is reported on a scale from zero to 150. These scores will be added to the certificate as well as the corresponding CEFR level from A1-C2. A 'Not yet A1' score is also possible.
Are there certificates for each module?
There are no separate modules

What information is included in the diagnostic and score report?
All candidates receive an individual diagnostic profile report. This gives a diagnostic profile of the candidate’s performance in each skill (reading, listening, speaking and writing), showing the areas where they performed well and the areas they might wish to practice and develop further. The score report also includes Module Scores.
What levels of the CEFR are assessed?
ISE Digital will assess candidates from CEFR levels A1-C2.A 'Not yet A1' score is also possible.
Is the exam regulated by Ofqual?
Yes, the Integrated Skills in English (ISE) exam is regulated by Ofqual.
What role does a candidate's accent play?
Candidates are assessed on how intelligible they are. They do not need to copy any particular accent of first-language English speakers.
Which spelling conventions are accepted?
Candidates can choose between American English and British English spelling conventions. Regardless of which convention they choose, they must use it consistently.

How do I take the exam?
ISE Digital can be taken in designated test centres globally. All modules will be taken on a secured
computer using a keyboard and microphone.
How long does the exam take?
The exam takes 105 minutes for all four skills, which includes a levelling test and time to read the instructions.
What material can I use to help me prepare for the exam?
There are free sample tests, an interactive demo online and skill development activities.
How much does ISE Digital cost?

Your results and digital certificate will be available 3 – 5 working days after you take the test.
Can I get a paper certificate?

Can I bring notes on my topic into the Speaking module?
Yes, one part of the test is to speak about a topic of your choice. You may bring notes on this topic into the exam.
How do I share my result with my employer or university?
You will be able to share a secure online link to anyone who needs to verify your result using our online certification system.
How long will my results take?
You will receive your results within 3-5 days and be able to share your digital certificate immediately.
Is my Speaking test assessed by a computer?
No. You will record your answers into the online testing system, but your Speaking response will be assessed by a highly trained Trinity examiner.
What happens if I don't get the grade I need?
Regardless of how you perform on the day of the exam, you are guaranteed a CEFR-level, a score and a certificate. The diagnostic report will give you information on where you may need to improve. It is possible to retake one module within 90 days in order to improve your overall grade.
