How to become a Trinity-validated TESOL course provider

Modified on Fri, 30 Oct at 3:09 PM

Organisations interested in delivering Trinity College London TESOL qualifications can apply to become Trinity-validated course providers.

Trinity validates courses to ensure that they meet its academic, assessment and course delivery requirements.

Which TESOL qualifications can organisations apply to deliver?

Organisations can apply for validation to deliver the following qualifications:

QualificationFocus
CertTESOL – Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other LanguagesInitial teacher training
TYLEC – Teaching Young Learners Extension CertificateTeaching English to young learners
CertPT – Certificate for Practising TeachersProfessional development for practising teachers
DipTESOL – Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other LanguagesAdvanced teacher development

The Certificate in Online Teaching (CertOT) follows a separate online registration and assessment pathway and is not included in the course provider validation applications described here.

How does the validation process work?

The process begins with an Expression of Interest and, if Trinity agrees that the organisation may proceed, continues to a full course proposal.

Step 1: Submit an Expression of Interest

Complete the Expression of Interest form for the qualification you wish to deliver.

The form requests information about your organisation, including:

  • Organisation name, address and contact details.

  • Proposed course director and relevant administrative contacts.

  • Proposed tutors and their professional experience.

  • Course delivery locations, where applicable.

  • Details of the organisation and its proposed provision.

You must also submit CVs for the proposed course director and tutors.

Completed forms and supporting CVs should be sent to: tesol.admin@trinitycollege.co.uk

Step 2: Wait for Trinity's response

Trinity reviews the Expression of Interest and confirms in writing whether your organisation should proceed with a full proposal.

Approval to proceed does not guarantee that the course will receive validation.

Step 3: Prepare a full course proposal

If Trinity confirms that you may proceed, you will need to prepare a full proposal in accordance with the validation requirements for your chosen qualification.

This includes demonstrating how your proposed course will meet Trinity's requirements for areas such as:

  • Course structure and syllabus coverage.

  • Course management and administration.

  • Tutor qualifications and experience.

  • Teaching, learning and assessment arrangements.

  • Facilities and resources.

  • Quality assurance.

The full requirements depend on the qualification.

Step 4: Complete the validation process

  • Trinity reviews course applications against its validation requirements.
  • The process may include scrutiny of the written proposal, discussion of required changes and a validation visit.
  • Your organisation must receive Trinity's validation before delivering the course as a Trinity-validated provision.

How long does the application process take?

The 2026 Expression of Interest forms state that a full proposal is usually submitted within three months of the Expression of Interest.

If a full proposal is not submitted within six months, Trinity requires a new Expression of Interest and updated tutor CVs.

These periods concern submission of the proposal. They are not a guarantee of how long the full validation process will take.

What happens after validation?

Validated course providers are responsible for delivering their courses in accordance with Trinity's requirements.

Trinity carries out external moderation and ongoing quality assurance as required for the qualification.

Validated providers may also be listed on Trinity's course provider search, helping prospective candidates find their courses.

Are there validation fees?

Trinity's validation requirements refer to validation and moderation fees.

Contact Trinity for information about the fees applicable to your organisation and proposed qualification.
